The real way this is tested is actually even meaner to the floor - normally you take a box cutter, cross-hatch the floor (IE cut it in a grid pattern), and then put the tape on it and rip it up. YesBona Traffic HD is MUCH more expensive than over-the-counter stuff. We went with that because the sample board looked exactly like the bare sanded wood, which is what we wanted. I'm sorry but this finish is not "salvageable". There are a couple places where either a dogs nail or something created a tiny gouge all the way through to the wood - so the Bona is not impermeable. They look closer to the raw wood tone. I should add that I planned to use Bona Traffic HD finish as well since I read how durable it is and how it goes on clear without yellowing the wood.
